“Yeah, no…uh…” She blinked rapidly a few times as she buttoned her blazer and tried to get her thoughts in order. It served to be a lot harder than it used to be. Between trying to keep her hands from shaking too much and trying not to fall asleep on the spot or worse… And now she had to try and have as normal a conversation as possible.
“You scared me.” She said finally. Of course he’d scared her. She’d screamed and practically launched herself across the bloody room. “I mean you’ve been gone for ages, you can only imagine how…almost surreal this is.” She tried a hand at nonchalance but it just came across as some kind of a cross between surprise and relief. “You’re okay, right? I mean still in one piece underneath your fancy Armani or whatever designer brand you’ve decided to wear.” That one came out a little better.
“This is my building, I think I’m allowed to show when I feel like it.” He said, though not with hostility, with a low, quieter tone as to not startle her more. Instinctively his hand rose to rub the bridge of his nose, he’d only just gotten the cast off it, and his eye was no longer bloodshot - so that was progress. Somewhat.
“And what are you doing here this late at night? It doesn’t look like working to me, not with how skittish you are right now.” He admitted quite bluntly this time. “And yes, it’s still Armani. It’s my brand, I wouldn’t wear anything less.” He straightened his shit collar with pride, at least he still had that.
