…y-you…I know you don’t exactly have it easy…but I don’t know how you f-find that confidence. Life kinda took a giant sh-shit on me.

Part of the reason why Larry idolized Tony so much was because he’d been through a similar experience regarding alcohol abuse—and Tony had overcome it while Larry was still struggling. Iron Man was handsome, wealthy, beloved, and a survivor; Larry himself was weak and a scaredy-cat and a failure.

But thank you…you really got no i-idea how much this means to me, Mr. Stark. 

The younger man hesitates for a moment before placing one of his own hands on top of Tony’s as a means of thanks.

“I realise life isn’t kind, and yes, it does effect people in a range of different ways. But look here pal, if you buck up, then things will get better. I know you’re afraid of being knocked down a peg, and you see, that right there is what’s going to suck all of your confidence away in a snap.” He emphasized his speech by snapping his fingers. “You don’t need to thank me, not at all, I’m going to make it my mission to help you out, kiddo."
